Kim Jones will present his pre-fall Dior Males assortment in Tokyo on November 30. Also in Tokyo, Valentino will point out a co-ed pre-fall assortment on November 27. Japan serves as a frequent inspiration — and a serious market — for the designers of Europe’s nice luxurious homes. Regardless of its slowing development, Japan remained a top-tier luxurious market, significantly in wholesale; malls which can be a main viewers for pre-fall exhibits haven’t suffered the identical precipitous decline as within the West.
D&G were forced to cancel their Shanghai show on the day of the event, after insults about China from Stefano Gabbana’s Instagram account went viral. An alleged heated, private conversation between the world-famous designer, Stefano Gabbana and IG user Michaela Phuong Tranova culminated with Gabbana stating “China Ignorant Dirty Smelling Mafia” after several other insults. After Tranova shared the messages with Diet Prada, the VIP guest list expected to attend the #DGGreatShow event quickly dwindled and 24 models boycotted the show. Stefano Gabbana and Dolce & Gabbana have since posted apologies and claimed the messages were a result of hacking, but the people of social media aren’t buying it.
Last week, Instagram kicked off a platform-based campaign to eliminate fake accounts. The movement has been extensively promoted online, warnings have been sent, and users have been encouraged to discontinue links to these accounts and apps that offer promotional packages by selling audiences and generating comments. The initiative was received with great enthusiasm in social media and, in turn, we hope it will lead to a total abolition of false followers, thus rebuilding the authentic and creative space for content creators who have grown their communities in a natural way.
