It’s summer if you want

It’s summer if you want

I stumbled across a photo on Pinterest which said (and I’m already singing): “Do you want to build a snowman?” and right after this verse comes the answer: “No, I don’t want to build a f*cking snowman, I want to build a sandcastle, on a beach, in the sun, where there’s no fucking snow” -my mood indeed. While thinking of warm destinations, I went on www.coloredideas.com to see their new posts. After postponing some emails and wasting three hours on the blog, I decided to make a top 5 exotic destinations I want to visit post. Well, they’re actually only four locations since we’ve already been to Bali, however I’m going to start with that island, since I believe it should be in your bucket list too.

1. BALI, Indonezia.

Bali is a small island in Indonesia. As one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world, Bali is renowned for its exotic scenery, its luring jungles, for the multiple temples and also for the sculptures that you will find sprawled across the island. If you make it to Bali, you must go to the Tanah Lot temple (“the earth under water”), it was one of the places that impressed me most and the sunset seen from there is something you’ve never seen before. I remember getting there and taking a break to snap the scenery. After a few shots, I put the camera around my neck, I sat on a rock and took a long, good look at the pattern the waves were creating in the sea… (read more about the temples in Bali here). Another place I warmly recommend is the Monkey Forest; at one point I felt as if I were dreaming: nature took over the temples in that forest, so everything was green and by the end of the reservation there was a fountain with koi fish inside, above us sprawling hundreds of species of trees. The dream ended when a monkey spotted the coconut I was planning on giving him and it climbed on my purse, tangling in the tassels. Panic.

2. SEYCHELLES, Republica Seychelles

The country is made up by 115 islands and is located in the Indian Ocean, north of Madagascar. Banyan Tree Seychelles is one of the most beautiful infinity pool hotels (yup, as a blogger I’m always thinking of photos, however you have to admit you want a photo there too), whose history deserves a read. I admit, the fact that George Harrison (The Beatles) wanted a retreat there is definitely a plus for me, yet later the idea shifted into what is known known as Banyan Tree hotel. Things I would like to do in Seychelles: a picnic on the beach, visit Jardin du Roi (Spice Garden), visit Anse Source d’Argent island #bestpicturesever and also see tortoises in their natural habitat. If you’ve ever been to Seychelles, I’m waiting for your recommendations.

3. MAURITUS, Republica Mauritius

We’re sticking to countries situated in the Indian Ocean and I’m adding to my bucket list a destination about which I’ve heard many things from a friend in Cluj, who comes from the island itself. Named after Prince Maurice von Nassau, an is him, the island has a triangular shape, with a volcanic relief. Here I would love to visit the food market, in order to familiarize with the ingredients that create the local food and taste the street food. I also want to visit the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Bothanical Garden, La Cuvette, one of the most beautiful beaches and to drink rum as the sun sets, at the Rhumerie de Chamarel.

4. LANGKAWI, Malaysia

Technically speaking, we’ve been to Malaysia, on our way to Bali (#yay for that 14 hour flight), practically we didn’t leave the airport since there wasn’t enough time to go sightseeing and catch our connecting flight. If everything goes as planned, we’re going to tour Asia for three weeks this year, including Langkawi. I found a description of the restaurants we shouldn’t miss here and the Sky Bridge from which I’m expecting thrills and a view, a sunrise tour on Gunung Raya and an evening spent at the 3D Art Paradise Museum. Let’s hope time will be on our side!

5. MALDIVE

Probably one of the most popular honeymoon destinations, for long and quiet relaxation days, the Maldives couldn’t be missing from a top 5 exotic destinations list. Here you can find the only underwater restaurant built entirely from glass in the world, named Ithaa. Also underwater is club SubSix, a trip with the Whale submarine, the 15Below bar, which holds 50 different kinds of vodka, the fish market for some reality and finally, diving. I have no clue why, but I have a feeling all photos will be blue. You know me crying_with_laughter_emoji_ios_ver_by_emojiiii-d8zsdqy

These are the destinations that I want to cross off my list in the following years. For more colorful ideas, click here. Where would you like to go, what beach are you dreaming of now, at the beginning of February? Have you been to any of these places? I’m waiting for beautiful stories. What would you add to this list?
